Summary of Duties:
Under the guidance of Program leadership, the incumbent will lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Pullman Honey Bee Research Lab. This role will work closely with the Research Faculty and Apiary Manager and will oversee the daily and seasonal requirements for honey bee research both in-field and in-lab.
The Lab manager will be responsible for supervising hourly workers, training new lab members in experimental methods and protocols, assisting research faculty and students in experimental design, data collection, sample preparation, and data management. Manage lab operations for the WSU (Washington State University) Honey Bee Program. The lab manager will work closely with the faculty, students, and hourly workers to ensure smooth operations and experimental success.
Primarily, the manager will support the development of fungal extracts, Metarhizium project and the production of mycelium. They will assist in data collection, sample processing, lab and field experiments, data management, and space use. They will also assist in inventory control, purchasing supplies and equipment, shipment of materials, and oversight of scheduling and assigning tasks to hourly workers.
The successful candidate will be organized, have the knowledge and experience maintaining rigor in scientific experimental protocol, and communicate clearly and effectively to support a high-quality research program.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate related scientific discipline and four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience which has included at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
