The Opportunity:
As the Walla Walla Community Reporter, you will be a journalist for Northwest Public Broadcasting (NWPB) who is focused on community issues and people in the Walla Walla Valley. As directed by the Multimedia News Director, you will source, research, write, record, and edit for audio and web news pieces and social media content. You will also work closely with editors and other internal team members to ensure the highest quality of standards and journalistic integrity that NWPB is known for.
Required Qualifications:
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, mass communications, or closely related field, and two (2) years of radio broadcast and/or news reporting experience, which has included experience in gathering, writing, editing, and producing news and feature reports.
Fluent oral and written communication skills.
Possession of, or ability to obtain at time of hire, a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual/bi-literate Spanish/English.
Experience publishing and/or maintaining websites.
Experience or training in new technologies for the gathering and delivery of news.
Experience in podcasting in a production role.
Ability to use social media in a news environment.

Monthly Salary:
$4,224.37 to $5,280.46 | In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Temporary End Date:
This is a temporary position expected to end one year after date of hire. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
Northwest Public Broadcasting at WSU has been reliably funded for many years, and we expect funding to continue to support this position.
