Summary of Duties:
The Executive Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship (CfE) within the Carson College of Business is responsible for leadership, outreach, strategic planning, fundraising, program management and delivery, staff supervision, budget management, and compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
This position develops the CfE vision, provides leadership locally and nationally, spearheads the strategic planning effort. Leads external relations efforts, include the Entrepreneurship Advisory Board, connections across the Washington State University (WSU) campus and within regional entrepreneurial and ventures communities, and with alumni.
The Executive Director develops and executes plan for financial sustainability. Raises external funding for CfE including endowments, donations, sponsorships, and grants. Ensures delivery of existing programs including but not limited to the Business Plan Competition and The Jones Milestone Accelerator. Includes program marketing, logistics, development, assessment, and all other aspects of managing a successful program. Hires, supervises, and develops staff and manages budget planning and review.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and six (6) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least three (3) years of managerial experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment.
Ability to work with external stakeholders and an understanding of the importance of growing those relationships.
Established ability to work well with diverse individuals in a wide variety of positions.
Demonstrated ability to show initiative and move projects forward.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
Event planning and management experience.
Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends based on program needs.
Ability and willingness to participate in occasional statewide or national travel.
Excellent verbal and writing skills.
Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in an entrepreneurial environment, particularly within a university or startup company.
Demonstrated experience working with external stakeholders.
Familiarity with the administrative structure of a large university – facilitation and/or teaching experience.

Monthly Salary: $7,542 – $9,668 | In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, this salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range. For additional information, please review WSU’s Administrative Professional Compensation.
