The Department of Education at Wake Forest University expects to fill a non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor position to begin July 1, 2024. Applicants must hold a PhD or EdD at the time of appointment.
We are a bachelor’s and master’s degree granting department with a strong relationship with and commitment to public schools. Teaching professionals are vital members of the Wake Forest academic community and are essential to fulfilling the core teaching and service missions of the College. This is a permanent, non-tenurable, full-time position with an initial two-year contract.
This position has a 3:3 teaching load and includes instruction and supervision of students in school-based field placements. The primary teaching responsibilities may include EDU 312/612: Teaching Exceptional Children, EDU 316/655: Elementary Literacy Interventions, EDU 307/717: Instructional Design, Assessment, & Technology, EDU 293/365/665: Professional Development Seminars, and other courses as deemed necessary by the department.
The applicant should have at least three years of successful teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have taught higher education courses involving special education and/or literacy interventions. Compelling applicants will demonstrate experience with varied K-12 school environments, knowledge of culturally-responsive pedagogies, an openness to interdisciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds, including international students, first-generation students, and students who identify as members of historically marginalized communities. Additional responsibilities will entail service to the department, college, and university, including serving on department committees and advising undergraduate students.
