The ELCAP New Student Orientation (NSO) Administrative Support position supports the ELCAP department weekly “Welcome Week” orientations for new ESOL students. This hourly position will support faculty orientation facilitators, assist with onboarding new students, and perform administrative tasks to ensure that new immigrant and refugee students feel welcome at Highline College and are prepared to begin classes in our English Language program.
This is a temporary hourly position, averaging 16 hours per week.
We are currently recruiting for two positions, schedules as follows:
• Daytime: Must be available 12:45-3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Remaining hours will be set once the position is filled, with some opportunity for flexibility.
• Evening: Must be available 4:30-7:15 pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Remaining hours will be set once the position is filled, with some opportunity for flexibility.
This position will report to the ELCAP Program Manager and will work with the ELCAP general administrative operations and faculty located in 19-109.
Essential Tasks
DUTIES:
• Welcome new students to Highline College;
• Provide administrative support to orientation facilitators and new students;
• Conduct administrative tasks to ensure students get placed in class and connect with their teacher;
• Input student information into college and department databases such as ctclink, WABERS, ABE database, and department spreadsheets;
• Refer students to campus departments and resources as needed;
• Respond to inquiries and questions about NSO in person, via the telephone, and email.
