Duties
- You will apply analytical processes to the planning, design, and implementation of new and improved information systems to meet business requirements.
- You will assist management in the justification and planning of assigned computer infrastructures by analyzing requirements and proposing alternatives.
- You will evaluate and recommend computer systems hardware, environmental software including operating systems, utility software, and communications hardware and software.
- You will manage the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and tuning of selected computer systems hardware, environmental software, and communications facilities.
- You will implement and support assigned computer systems security by providing technical management pf the development, implementation, and auditing of system access.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 45 level 1 within 12 months of appointment.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.
- Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
- Customer Service – Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
- Oral Communication – Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
- Problem Solving – Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
GS-05 (or equivalent pay band): Must have one year of experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the four competencies listed above.
GS-07 (or equivalent pay band): In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, for the GS-7 (or equivalent pay band) you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying basic IT principles, methods, and tools; providing assistance in preparing recommendations for changes in methods and practices where appropriate; and identifying and/or resolving basic problems.
