The Industrial Engineering program at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is looking for a dynamic full-time, tenure-track position with an anticipated fall 2022 start date. The ideal candidate will specialize in systems engineering, manufacturing systems design, simulation, and facilities design. Position responsibilities include teaching undergraduate engineering courses, research and scholarly activity, and service to the university and department.
The Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering department is dedicated to hands-on engineering education focused on interdisciplinary coursework and cross-disciplinary collaborations outside the classroom. We are a strong, student-centered program located in Southwest Wisconsin that prioritizes accessible undergraduate engineering education, effective teaching pedagogy, and dedication to an inclusive learning environment.
The primary responsibility of faculty members in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering is to teach undergraduate courses that include laboratory sections. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong commitment to excellence in engineering education and utilizing modern and inclusive pedagogy. Faculty are also expected to participate in curriculum development, academic assessment, undergraduate research and scholarly activities, as well as university/community service. Industrial and Systems Engineering faculty also serve as academic advisors and student group advisors in addition to community outreach activities. Faculty are expected to work with colleagues in the department and across campus to improve the diversity of the student body and provide a more inclusive educational experience for all. Additionally, faculty may have the opportunity to teach graduate level courses as part of our online MS Engineering program.

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering offers ABET-accredited BS programs in mechanical engineering and industrial engineering. The industrial and systems engineering program has three tenured/tenure-track faculty and one instructional academic staff who serve approximately 170 majors, and graduates approximately 40 students per year. The program is known for its hands-on, experiential approach to engineering education and for their highly sought-after graduates. The department has long-standing partners in industry throughout Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois, such as John Deere, Kohler, Kimberly Clark, Greenheck, 3M, Subzero-Wolf, Boston-Scientific, Rockwell Automation, Plexus, and Alliant Energy. Construction of a new engineering building has recently been approved and will house new engineering learning environments and lab facilities.
