Job Summary:
The Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) is home to several initiatives that support student success in the College of Letters & Science (https://cae.ls.wisc.edu/), including the CAE cohort program; Summer Collegiate Experience (SCE); and the L&S STEM Scholars Initiative. These programs work together to offer an enriching, inclusive community for L&S students who are from low income and/or rural backgrounds or who are the first in their family to attend college. CAE provides a variety of engagement opportunities to students, including summer residential experiences, holistic academic advising, academic coaching, paid research opportunities, health and wellness events, social events, graduate school and career preparation, and connection with L&S learning communities that facilitate connection and collaboration.
The Program Administrative Assistant works closely with the Assistant Dean/Director of CAE and provides administrative support to help the entire staff meet the goals and objectives of CAE. The person in this role assists with office and budget management and handles purchasing. They also plan and organize virtual and in-person meetings and events, manage scheduling for the Director, supervise front desk student staff, and coordinate CAE facilities and operations projects.

Qualifications:
* Excellent administrative and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to learn and navigate processes that can sometimes be bureaucratic or complex
* Ability to independently organize and manage multiple projects or responsibilities, while closely tracking details and identifying ways to improve processes
* Strong attention to detail, as well as oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact positively and professionally with various stakeholders (e.g., current and prospective students, faculty/staff, other campus community members, and office visitors)
* Experience partnering successfully with colleagues and collaborating to get things done
* Commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment
* Proficiency with frequently used computer programs (such as Outlook, Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office programs, meeting scheduling tools, and virtual meeting platforms) and an ability to easily and quickly learn new programs or platforms and to assist others
Work Schedule:
Typical work schedule includes weekday hours between 7:45am-5:00pm and a total of 40 hours/week. The newly hired staff member will coordinate with the CAE Director to determine exact schedule.

Additional Information:
This position occasionally requires evening or weekend work, usually for special large-scale CAE events that happen a few times a semester. When there is weekend/evening work, hours are adjusted so as not to exceed 40 hours/week.
This position requires that most work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. There is an opportunity for some limited flexibility during winter and summer breaks, after onboarding and training are completed.
