Job Summary:
The College of Natural and Health Sciences at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley seeks a skilled human resource (HR) specialist who will serve as an HR and Payroll Liaison and Unit Budget Coordinator. The HR Specialist assists in the search for vacant positions and the hiring process for new employees. They collect and track HR documents and update faculty, staff and student employee data in Banner. The HR specialist helps orient new employees by explaining university policies and procedures and ensures a smooth transition during onboarding. The HR specialist is responsible for the timely payment of salary/wages, fellowships, and deferred compensation.
Unit Budget Coordinator part of the position will provide critical record keeping and administrative and budget support for academic units in NHS including tracking of state accounts, faculty travel funds, foundation activities, indirect account, course fees, and internal awards. Position must exercise excellent interpersonal, decision-making, and problem-solving skills in communicating with the unit leaders.
The workload for this position in NHS is 50% human resources and 50% budget.
The successful candidate has personal initiative and excellent communication skills to interact with faculty, students, and staff with consistent professional courtesy and to represent the College to the academic community and to the public. The successful candidate is familiar with a variety of office software programs including MS Office suite. Consistent and accurate attention to detail is necessary for successful completion of tasks in this position. Good technical skills with database software are highly desirable, as well as familiarity with the structure and culture of higher education. The successful candidate demonstrates sensitivity and respect for diverse populations and can work effectively with multiple interruptions.

This position is contingent on funding from the Colorado State Legislature, approval by the Board of Trustees, and subject to the policies and regulations of the University of Northern Colorado. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of experience in Higher Education, experience working in HR

Salary and Benefits:
Salary is $45,384. Benefits available include health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement plans. Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed at 0.5 FTE or above are eligible for undergraduate dependent tuition grants of up to 50%. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.
