Student Assistants will be charged with engaging enthusiastically with all residents, will have programmatic responsibilities on nights and weekends, and must have a wide knowledge of campus resources. This position will be working desk shifts and will be responsible for participating in an on call, duty rotation. Student Assistants will be assigned one of the functional areas below:
Orientation Tour Guide
Student Assistants will be charged with giving engaging and enthusiastic tours of all the Residence halls on campus. This will require selected students to be strong public speakers and have confidence in talking to families and prospective students. Student Assistants must have a wide knowledge of involvement offers within Housing and Residence Life and seek to connect these prospective students to these engagement opportunities. Student Assistants must be able to connect perspective students to existing student organizations or to events that are hosted by the university during tour conversations. Will also assist with the physical labor of setting up for tours. For example, tables, tents, etc.
Camps and Conference Assistant
As a Conference Assistant (CA), you are responsible for assisting conference guests upon their arrival and departure and providing excellent customer service. You are also expected to provide support for completing tasks such as preparing client materials, assembling key packets, building walk-throughs, administering check-in/check-out locations and assisting with other HRL areas as needed. Other duties include assisting guests with lockouts and provide security within your residence, assisting with preparing buildings for fall opening, assisting with ongoing HRL projects such as inventory, room inspections, creating decorations, compiling packets for staff training, etc.
