The Department of Computing and Mathematics houses exciting, relevant, and cutting-edge academic programs and research connecting students to the latest in technology. The faculty are future focused, approachable, diverse, and are dedicated to preparing the next generation of mathematicians, statisticians, computing professionals, and technology entrepreneurs for successful careers.
The department offers the following range of computing programs which focus on the latest tools and techniques:
– A BS and Nexus in Computing degrees with specializations in Cybersecurity, System and Network Administration, and Application Development;
– A BS in Computer Science degree which is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org;
– A MS in Applied Computer Science degree;
– Undergraduate certificate in Data Science embedded within the BS in Computer Science or BS in Mathematics degrees.
The department is housed within the modern Technology Learning Center building which has computing classrooms and labs that have up-to-date computing technology and industry standard software and tools where students learn to Code. Create. Collaborate.

Job Summary
The department invites dynamic applicants to join our rapidly growing Computing and CS programs. We seek full-time (lecturer, senior lecturer, assistant, and associate professor) faculty to begin August 2024 or January 2025.
All applicants are considered, with particular interest in faculty with expertise in data science; cybersecurity; game development; extended reality (XR->AR/MR/VR); or graphic/visual computing.
Candidates will teach face to face, hybrid, or online courses. Candidates possessing a PhD will have the opportunity to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
We are interested in candidates with a commitment to excellence in teaching and student engagement and a desire to embrace innovative methods in teaching and learning. Additional expectations include professional development and scholarly activity, and service to the department, college, and UWG community.
Candidates will work with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds and have a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for all students regardless of background.
Required Qualifications
Assistant or Associate professor-PhD in Computer Science, Information Technology or closely-related field from an accredited institution. Candidates nearing completion of their doctoral (ABD) will be considered, but must provide proof that the doctoral degree is completed prior to the start of a tenure-track appointment.
All candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and student success and active service. Tenure-track candidates must be dedicated to continued professional development and scholarly activity.
Demonstrated ability in written and oral use of the English language is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with both face-to-face and online teaching.
A record of accomplishments in working with diverse populations of students.
Proposed Salary
Salary will be highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Startup packages will support tenure-track faculty as they build robust, funded research programs.
