Student Financial Services is seeking Training and Compliance Specialists. The Specialist applies in-depth understanding of core student service lifecycle concepts in admissions, student records, financial aid, and student accounts to support and improve departmental operations and training. The Training and Compliance Specialist collaborates closely with SFS staff and internal and external stakeholders to ensure operational effectiveness, exceptional service, and impeccable compliance with all relevant federal, state, and institutional laws and regulations.
Job Description
Design, coordinate, implement and maintain departmental knowledge base for use in documenting and disseminating policies, processes, and procedures during regular training for the staff in Student Financial Services, Enrollment, and throughout the university.
Monitor, review and research applicable regulations and industry best practice to evaluate operational and compliance practices.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify process improvements that align with university standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
Provide policy guidance to support informed decision-making and internal policy development.
Assist with internal and external audits, internal controls requests, and federal and state reporting.
Develop and maintain a robust departmental training program and facilitate employee training to ensure adherence to federal, state and institutional policies and regulations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree with at least four years of experience is required. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
In-depth knowledge of student service lifecycle with emphasis on student account and financial aid processes and systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state regulations related to student account and financial aid.
Ability to interpret complex policies and regulations and translate them to effective training programs.
Keen understanding of complex, integrated systems.
Proven ability to work collaboratively, build partnerships and communicate effectively, particularly with diverse populations.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments independently.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of departmental and University systems – PeopleSoft, Perceptive Content, Salesforce, UBI.
Experience working in and navigating a decentralized University environment.
Proven ability in developing training programs for audiences in both in-person and remote environments.
Hybrid Work Policy
Student Financial Services’ current Hybrid Work Policy is that staff are expected to be in the office at least one day per week, or 4 days per month, as determined by management. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis to allow for some positions to be more fully remote, with in-person requirements at the start of each fall and spring semester.
