The Division of Translational Research and Applied Statistics in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Virginia (UVA) is a dynamic team of 3 faculty members and 2 staff statisticians, currently seeking a statistical programmer.
This statistical programmer will work with division members and clinical collaborators on a variety of projects including clinical trials, a cystic fibrosis data core, and clinical related research projects. The statistical programmer will have opportunities to work in a “public health” setting with the intention to improve patient care. Responsibilities include writing and maintaining computer programs for multiple projects and reports, developing project databases, and attending project meetings. This position requires on-site work.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Write, modify, maintain, and validate computer programs for project reports.
Review and update statistical analysis plans to ensure accuracy.
Run systematic reports for clinical trials and data core.
Develop analysis datasets using data from electronic data capture systems and registry data systems.
Develop and maintain REDCap databases.
Work alongside other staff to ensure quality control on various projects.
Attend division and project meetings.
In addition to the responsibilities listed above, other job responsibilities may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or related discipline
At least one year of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Exhibit excellent communication and collaborative team skills.
Programming experience in R or SAS is required.
Experience with developing databases in REDCap is preferred.

This position is located in Charlottesville, VA
