Psychiatry HR Specialist

Posting Summary:
The Department of Psychiatry in the Larner College of Medicine is seeking a Human Resource Coordinator to design, implement and monitor a variety of human resource affairs for multiple research labs and business units. Reports to the Department Business Administrator and works closely with the Business/Accounting Specialist and the Physician Executive Assistant. Responsibilities include oversight and management of recruitment, onboarding, and employee life-cycle needs through termination/retirement. Duties are primarily focused on needs related to staff positions, but includes Graduate Students, Postdocs, Temporary Employees, and specific responsibilities related to faculty needs. Write job descriptions, complete appointments/reappointments, manage leave needs, oversee time reporting, and work with center administrators on overarching HR needs. Ensure and develop processes and systems and assure all are in place for compliance with HR needs. Support daily operations of the department and deliver internal staff communications. With guidance from College and University HR colleagues, manage needs related to performance, conduct, or disciplinary matters.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business management, or related field with three years’ related experience required. Demonstrated experience working with human resource principles, practices and procedures. Effective written and oral communication skills with experience writing job descriptions and completing employee performance appraisals. Proficient with office software applications. Attention to detail and effective organizational skills required. Ability to effectively perform duties within deadline-driven environment, with frequently changing customer requirements.
Desirable Qualifications:
Proficient with Microsoft Office products highly desirable. Experience working with employees that work in a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Knowledge of PeopleSoft and PeopleAdmin desirable.
Special Conditions:
External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, Occasional overtime/weekend hours required, This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, Background Check required for this position
