Grant Program Specialist

Posting Summary:
Coordinate grant award processing for the Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program of USDA. Compile, organize, and analyze data related to grant program functions and quality of service. Assist SARE Grant Administrators, with unique annual cycles of activities, form the development of call for proposals, including reviewing grant applications, compiling final award documents, and examining final grant reports for project completeness. Hold general content knowledge in agriculture, natural resources, and/ or food systems to inform grant review; understand the multiple grant programs offered by SARE and program requirements to be able to step in for SARE Grant Administrators. Generate promotional materials, including instructional videos and job aids to facilitate the grant submission process. Translate technical jargon discussed in grant review meetings into laymen’s terms. Serve as a liaison with stakeholders to ensure the grant programs and operations are in line with SARE’s mission to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion in agriculture.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):
Bachelor’s degree with one to three years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with different timelines, and to complete projects in a timely manner.Experience using spreadsheets, databases, word processing, Adobe PDF software, shared calendars, digital file sharing, and Zoom.Strong written and oral communication skills, proven attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.Content knowledge in agriculture, natural resources, and/ or food systems.
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience with notetaking for meetings with complex conversations, and ability to translate technical jargon into simple language.
Experience with report writing and copy editing.
Other Information:
The position is based in the SARE Office in South Burlington, or out of any Extension field office where space is available.
Remote work may be possible, contingent on candidate needs and UVM requirements.
