Associate Director of Housing Operations

Posting Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Residential Life, the Associate Director of Housing Operations (ADHO) provides day-to-day management and strategic leadership for the systems, processes, and policies that support the housing assignments of approximately 6,000 student beds on the University of Vermont’s residential campus. Informed by University goals, best practices, and innovations in the field, this position partners closely with departmental and campus partners to enhance the residential student experience through the efficient use of technology, optimized administrative processes, and creative and compassionate direct service to students in 11 residential hall complexes. The ADHO leads and maintains strong collaborations with other members of the Res Life leadership team and campus partners to ensure that the housing, billing, customer relationship, and maintenance request systems are effectively integrated and functioning, and that staff remain current with trainings, updates, and enhancements to these systems. This position directly supervises three staff members, supporting a full team of ~15 professional staff.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, technology, education or related discipline and six to eight years of progressively responsible experience in administrative management, information technology management and supervision in a college or university campus housing and/or residence life, occupancy management, forecasting planning or a similar setting required. Effective leadership, management and data-informed decision-making skills required. Experience and proficiency with housing software systems required. Computer proficiency to include competency in Microsoft Access, Excel, Word and other commonly used office software. Strong customer service orientation, organizational and planning skills required. Demonstrated ability to work on multiple and simultaneous projects, and under pressure with time-sensitive deadlines. Effective communication, public speaking and presentation skills required. Ability to build positive and effective relationships with students, colleagues, senior leaders, and other internal and external partners. Demonstrated appreciation for and promotion of diversity, multiculturalism, and inclusion in the workplace required.
Desirable Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration highly desirable.
Experience with StarRez housing software system desirable.
