Job Summary
Performs work on
research projects under minimal supervision.
Oversees the scientific design, conduct, and interpretation of experiments.
Responsible
for presenting results and publishing manuscripts.
Manages instruments for mitochondrial phenotyping and performs assays for Dr. Funai’s
laboratory.
Responsibilities
1. Performs independent laboratory projects under supervision of the
Principal Investigator, Dr. Katsu Funai.
2. Performs high-resolution respirometry and fluorometry experiments to phenotype mitochondrial
bioenergetics.
3. Directs specialized and complex lab experiments in cell culture and mouse studies.
4. Reviews scientific journals,
abstracts and other literature for information concerning experimental procedures.
5. May supervise, train and review the work of
laboratory personnel.
6. May supervise the care and experiments of research
animals.
Preferences
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or other scientific discipline in a related
field plus two years of experience or equivalency required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also
required.
