The Assistant Director, Programs provides leadership to the Spotlight Programs Board office and student programming board through development and oversight of signature campus programs and other smaller programs that serve the entire campus community. The role works collaboratively with key University stakeholders through broader initiatives such as Panther Welcome, Homecoming and Spring Fling Week to provide large scale campus programs.
This role carries responsibility for the development of community-wide programming through not only Spotlight Programs Board, but also other collaborative committees, primarily for the Atlanta campus, but may also serve students from any of Georgia State’s campuses. Responsibilities include designing and implementing programs, planning trainings, and conducting assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of programs. Facilitates regular ongoing conversations with Perimeter College Student Life staff to make efficient use of Student Activity Fee resources to serve the entire Georgia State student population.

· The Assistant Director will work in close collaboration with the Student Center/Student Life digital marketing team and the Student Engagement Marketing & Media team will provide a natural enhancement of marketing of campus programs through all mediums.
· Experience with marketing and budget management will be desirable assets for this position.
· Reporting to the Director of Student Life, this position will collaborate with the broader Student Life team and colleagues within other Student Engagement units within the Division of Student Success.
· The Assistant Director supervises a Coordinator, Student Engagement position and a full-time Administrative Assistant.
· The professional staff team in the Spotlight office annually selects, trains and supervises two graduate administrative assistants who work 20 hours per week during the academic year and seven undergraduate student members of the Spotlight Programs Executive Board.
· Relationship building with a wide range of campus partners is a requisite for this position.
The scope of the position may require attendance at evening and/or weekend activities, meetings, or other signature campus events both within the Spotlight Programs Board area and provides support as requested for events and activities within and related to the Student Engagement division as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Hiring Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling or related degree
Experience working with campus programming boards in an advisory or leadership capacity in a collegiate setting
Knowledge and understanding of both large scale and small-scale programming on a large college campus in an urban setting and familiarity with program planning, volunteer recruitment processes, and interacting with professional artists and agents, including middle agents for major concert planning and production.
Experience utilizing organization management software packages (i.e., Engage, OrgSync, Presence, CampusGroups, Collegiate Link
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters with tact, sensitivity, and discretion, and to work collaboratively with multiple campus and community organizations.
Must be positive, organized, helpful, student-centered, customer service-oriented, and responsible.
Able to demonstrate a strong work ethic, initiative, energy, leadership, approachability, and maturity.
Able to adjudicate student conduct matters, handle crisis situations and sensitive topics.
Able to work independently as well as working well with others as a member of a team.
Skills at building and maintaining strong partnerships with campus partners within and outside of Student Engagement/Student Success will be a key to success in this position.
