Scope of Job:
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) invites applications for
a non-tenure-track One Year Lecturer position in Chemistry beginning Fall 2023, subject to funding availability. This one-year appointment
position involves teaching, but occasionally, when needed, a percentage of the load may involve some service. Specific teaching assignments
may include undergraduate lectures and labs in particular General Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, etc.The candidate should be an expert in
the broad field of chemistry. The successful candidate is expected to be an active participant in departmental, college and university
activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
M.S. in Chemistry or related field of study from an accredited
university. Experience in teaching at a University Campus.

Additional Information:
UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the
position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office
environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code 51.215. The retirement
plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position
being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in
length.

About the Department: The Department of Chemistry along with BCMB program is
committed to quality education, community service, and preparing students for graduate work or careers in chemistry, as well as preparing
students for admission to the schools of medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. The department has latest research facilities in chemical and
biochemical research and education and is the home to approximately 30 full time faculty and about 400 graduate and undergraduate students.
ACS accredited BS degrees are offered in Chemistry, along with graduate degrees at the masters levels. The Department of Chemistry offers a
Master of Science (Chemistry) degree, a Master of Science (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; jointly with Biology) degree, a Bachelor of
Science (Chemistry) degree, a Bachelor of Science degree with teaching certification, a minor in Chemistry, and a minor in Biochemistry.
UTRGV is planning to launch in the near future an interdisciplinary PhD program in Materials Science and Engineering, on which the
chemistry department will be a key participant.
