Advertised Job Summary:
The research specialist will assist in conducting research on NIH-funded studies focused on anxiety and communication in children with neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder and fragile X syndrome. This individual will work with the principal investigator and grant staff to assist in conducting assessments; collecting, entering, and managing data; behavioral coding; report/manuscript writing; and preparing professional presentations.
Required Education and Experience:
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, communication sciences and disorders, or a related field. Travel across South Carolina and within the United States is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
The individual should have experience conducting research or direct experience working with children with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
The individual will need to have experience working with children with neurodevelopmental disorders; previous experience with research; ability to handle travel demands across South Carolina and within the United States; ability to sensitively and professionally interact with children and their families.
Job Duty:
Collect data and conduct behavioral assessments in a standardized manner to families and children with neurodevelopmental disorders and typically developing controls. Travel for assessments, within the state of South Carolina and across United States, as required.

Calculate and ensure reliability and fidelity on behavioral assessments. Train and supervise undergraduate students in data management procedures.
