Job Description Summary
One major responsibility of this of this individual is to support the experimental activity of a stream of research focused on understanding the role of cardiac transverse tubules in health and states of pathological mechanical load. They will perform experiments targeted at understanding their mechanobiology and relevance to disease using myocardial slices from animal models and human hearts. Experimental techniques will also include confocal microscopy, western blotting, PCR and especially calcium imaging. The other major responsibility of this individual is to perform basic histology and histochemistry, image analysis, molecular analyses (western blot and RT-PCR), and cell culture in support of extramurally funded research. This individual will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of procedures and assays performed and assuring that procedures are executed in conformity with established protocols. This individual will also be responsible for assuring that laboratory workspaces are organized, clean and adequately supplied for the required procedures. This individual will assist in manuscript preparation and the generation of progress reports for research sponsors and the investigative team. This individual must comply with applicable regulations concerning environmental health and safety, patient confidentiality and recordkeeping. The envisioned individual must have doctoral level experience in myocardial biology and physiology.
Position dependent upon continued grant funding.
