Research Specialist C/D will provide technical support and oversee ongoing projects using electrophysiological, optogenetic, imaging, and behavioral methods in rodents. The position requires advanced knowledge of neuroscience and biology. Responsibilities include maintaining mouse colony; experimental design; planning and executing complex experiments that include electrophysiological, optogenetic, and imaging; data analysis, curation, and backup; organization and maintenance of laboratory records; and supply organization and ordering. Ability to keep accurate records and excellent organizational skills are essential. We are looking for a creative, friendly, and responsible individual.
Design and conduct experiments using behavioral, electrophysiological, and imaging techniques*.
Supervision of research staff*.
Immunohistochemistry and preservation of brain tissue*.
Mouse colony maintenance*.
Database maintenance, data organization, and backup.
Laboratory maintenance/ordering.
Data interpretation.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Research Specialist D
Experimental development and troubleshooting will be expected, as well as independent planning experiments and supervision of research staff.
The position is contingent on continued funding.
Qualifications:
Research Specialist C – Bachelor’s Degree and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Research Specialist D – Master of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Must have strong organizational skills, good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to learn new techniques and analytical methods, and the ability to be a reliable and enthusiastic team player.
