The McKay Lab for Orthopaedic Research at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking an individual to fill a full time research engineer position. The candidate will assist in coordinating studies on multiple research projects and perform a variety of benchtop and in vitro studies which require careful attention to detail. Experiments will include biomechanical testing and analysis, machining custom-made fixtures, and analyzing and processing data in Matlab. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, ordering supplies, and keeping a well-organized lab notebook. The candidate must be able to follow directions carefully, solve problems independently, and function well within a team environment. The candidate will be required to interpret and present testing results to other researchers and clinicians.
Qualifications:
The minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Biomechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience in machining and the use of universal testing frames is desirable but not required. Salary is competitive and based on experience with an excellent fringe benefit package. The position will be filled as soon as the appropriate individual is identified.
