Posted Job TitleMuseum EducatorJob Profile TitleAdministrative Coordinator, University MuseumJob Description SummaryReporting to the Associate Director of School Programs, the Museum Educator is responsible, as part of a team, for the coordination and delivery of Unpacking the Past (UtP), a free multi-point program offered to 6th and 7th grade classes in Philadelphia Title I schools. During the school year, the Museum Educator will teach lessons to classes participating in the UtP program – either in classrooms across the city or at the Penn Museum. The Museum Educator may assist Senior Museum Educators with ongoing UtP program design, including program evaluation, data collection, and content research. The Museum Educator works 25 hours per week, divided over four weekdays during the school year.
In the summer months (June, July, August), the Museum Educator will report to Assistant Director of Family and Camp Programs and support public programs at the Museum. The Museum Educator prepares activities for families to increase visitor engagement in the galleries including Summer Wonder and WAWA Welcome America programs. Summer work schedules may shift depending on programming decisions/needs and may include one weekend day.
In addition, throughout the year this role will assist the LCE department with Family Programs at the museum as their schedule allows.Job Description

PRINCIPAL POSITION REPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma/GED and 5 to 7 years experience required, BA/BS preferred, and 1 – 2 years’ K-12 teaching experience is preferred, experience with middle school ages is preferable. Must be organized, detail-oriented, have excellent customer service skills, and the ability to interface with a wide range of constituent groups. A team player and comfortable working in a busy, noisy environment; ability to manage students in a classroom setting is required; Must be self-motivated, organized, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Schedule may occasionally include some evenings or weekends. Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, or Arabic a plus. Strong connections to diverse communities in Philadelphia a plus. The work environment typically includes standing, walking, sitting, and stooping. Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. Working with children under the age of 18, and a valid driver’s license is required to drive a Museum vehicle. No supervisory responsibilities.
