The Music Department is a community of creators and thinkers who explore worlds of music, sound, and performance. Students learn to make and engage with a wide range of music and sonic cultures, from medieval songs to viral TikToks, from birdsongs to electronic music. We offer a music major and two minors, and students from across the university have access to first-rate faculty and to performance opportunities in a wide range of ensembles. In our undergraduate courses and ensembles, we aim to provide an integrative context within which performance is seen as an integral part of our academic pursuits. Our graduate programs in music studies (musicology, ethnomusicology, theory) and composition are known for fostering creativity and rigor, thanks to the high degree of interaction and collaboration among students and faculty. Duties/Job Responsibilities:
Provide publicity for all Music Department concerts and events. This will include:
Producing and sending weekly emails describing Music Department events through coordination with faculty, ensemble directors, and other event sponsors.
Creating posters (printed and digital) for individual performances and a monthly list of events.
Video recording/editing content from selected events and performances to provide video and photographic content on the Department website and on social media.
Developing content for social media and managing social media sites (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.). Coordinate with the Academic Coordinator for content related to academic activities as needed.
Producing concert programs in cooperation with ensemble directors and faculty.
Updating and developing resources for the Music Department website through graphic design and content creation. The focus for this position is on maintaining information on all performance-related content and Department-sponsored events (including Colloqium).
Produce informational brochures for the Performance Program. Coordinate with the main office staff for development of additional marketing materials.
Advertising events in campus and local print and online publications.
Continuing to seek opportunities to further promote and publicize the work of the Music Department with the goal of growing our audiences and partnerships.
Develop and implement a communications plan for the Music Department.
Create systems for external communication for faculty, staff, graduate students, and ensemble directors to follow, resulting in a unified approach to publicity materials and information flow for the Department.
Manage email listservs, including the updating the lists as needed.
Track analytics (social media, website, etc.) and provide reports to the Director of Performance and Chair of the Department as requested.
When necessary, interfacing with members of the SAS tech team to resolve any technical issues related to the duties of the position.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience with publicity and communications. Music background preferred. Some evenings and weekends may be required. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required. May occasionally need to lift objects up to 20 lbs.
