The Business and Operations Manager for Wharton External Affairs performs a wide range of complex and confidential duties, providing oversight of financial, human resource, and business operations of a large department engaged in fundraising and alumni relations, both domestically and internationally.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Operations for Wharton External Affairs and collaborating with Wharton Finance and Administration, this role works closely with department directors to establish budgets, provide training, and implement Penn’s policies and processes.
Responsibilities include managing business processes, utilizing existing systems for oversight and approval of annual budgets, preparing reports, conducting forecasting and trend analysis, approving expenditures, handling new hires and payroll, and reconciling all business activities. The Business and Operations Manager acts as a partner with Wharton Human Resources to support hiring, recruiting, and onboarding activities for a department consisting of 100+ full-time staff and student workers. Additionally, the Manager oversees office management and develops and trains staff on business processes and procedures. The role involves direct supervision of a Business Administrator, Program Coordinator, and Financial Coordinator.
