Job Description Summary
The PPMC Cardiology Clinical Research program mission is to advance rigorous, impactful and actionable science; provide highly accessible, empathic, exceptional patient care; and build the next generation of physicians, scientists, and care providers. The Administrative Director of Research will promote, support, and facilitate PPMC cardiology research activities and will play an integral role in the successful development, implementation, and advancement of the programmatic initiatives of the Center. Under the director of the Center Director, this position will be instrumental in enhancing and evolving the Center’s research activities, including overseeing all aspects of project development and implementation for Center investigators. The Administrative Director of Research will oversee all research staff, manage research operations and will work closely with department business office, OCR, and ORS to establish and manage budgets and contracts.

Job Responsibilities
-Oversee research staff including research nurses, research coordinator, research assistants/students to ensure appropriate training on research protocols, adherence to regulatory guidance, successful implementation of study protocols, and support of study participants. Ensure the conduct of clinical studies in conformance with Good Clinical Practice, International Conference of Harmonization Guidelines, and SOPs. Screen and interview candidates for staff openings, interview references, make hiring recommendations, and onboard new hires.
-Managing all operational and regulatory aspects of the Center’s portfolio of clinical research studies, including supervising and supporting staff in subject recruitment, scheduling and completing study procedures, data collection, data entry, data management, and regulatory reporting and communications, as well as overseeing coordinating center operations when the Center leads multi-site studies.
-Anticipating timelines and analyzing requirements to accomplish major and minor projects, organizing and delegating tasks to center staff, following through to completion of a broad range of complex projects conducted with collaborators both internal and external to Penn.
-Assisting the business office with post-award management of the PPMC Cardiology clinical research program portfolio of research grants to create a consolidated budget, enabling growth of the group’s infrastructure and ensuring all salaries and expenses are allocated appropriately. Assist with invoicing trials to industry sponsors in order for timely revenue recognition.
-Working with Center leadership to ensure that appropriate resources, infrastructure, and quality systems are in place to support PPMC Cardiology clinical research studies.
-Collaborating with principal investigators to develop fundable ideas, create budgets, write, and submit proposals.
-Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

$61,046.00 – $113,000.00 Annual Rate
