Position Summary:
The Associate Director of Veteran Services serves as a leader on campus who specializes in and provides academic, cultural, educational, and social programming for students who identify as a veteran, active duty service member, reservist, guard member, or dependent. The Associate Director aids military affiliated students in their transition from military life to student life, incorporating them into the intellectual and social life of the institution. The position reports to the Director of Veterans Services.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s Degree
with a minimum of 5- 8 years of military service OR a master’s degree in
student Affairs/Higher Education, Social Work, Psychology, Public Administration, Criminology, or other related field.
Experience
Required Experience:
Previous military service of at least 3 or 6 years
At least one year’s experience with Veteran Affairs benefits counseling and/or processing.
At least one year of supervising student staff, interns, or similar veterans’ groups.
Preferred Experience:
3 – 4 years of professional experience in developing, administering, and implementing programs and services in a college/university setting or similar.
Experience working in an
environment where diversity, equity, and inclusion are honored and practiced
Certifications
Six months of on-the -job training will be required in order to obtain desired level of competence with Department of Veterans Affairs education benefit laws and regulations.
Certification/Registration can be waived if applicant is currently serving as a School Certifying Official.

Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check, educational check, and authorization to work in the United States is required after a conditional offer of employment has
been made. The successful candidate must submit original transcripts within one (1) month of hire.
This position is contingent on funding from the Colorado State Legislature, approval by the Board of Trustees, and subject to the policies and regulations of the University of Northern Colorado.
