Department Summary:
The University of North Texas Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency serving the University of North Texas (UNT) community, a public institution of higher education in Denton, TX. The department employs nearly 70 full-time employees, including 47 police officers, and 32 part-time employees.
The UNT Police Department is among only 5% of law enforcement agencies nationwide to have earned accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA). The UNT Police Department is additionally accredited by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA). This dual accreditation helps to ensure the University of North Texas Police Department operates in accordance with over 500 best practice standards to offer the UNT community the highest level of professional law enforcement
Position Overview:
Incumbent functions as executive assistant to the Chief of Police and administers all required employment documentation/records, employee classification actions, promotion actions, merit actions, and other payroll status adjustments; including, recruiting/postings of vacancies, etc. Incumbent maintains all full-time employee files and records in accordance with mandated state and institutional policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and five years of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Advanced written communication skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple
tasks, and to coordinate the work of others.
• Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex
nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats.
• Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments
effectively.

• Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
• Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned
