Department Summary:
The University of North Texas competes as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the American Athletic Conference. North Texas’ athletic programs are classified as NCAA Division I, the largest and highest division among all colleges and universities. The 46,000 square-foot Athletic Center located off South Bonnie Brae Street is the centerpiece of North Texas athletics. Athletics strives to conduct a competitive athletics program that promotes faculty, staff, student and community affiliation and participation with the North Texas Athletics. Provide facilities which attract the highest level of talent and allow student-athletes to perform at the highest level in practice and during competition.
Position Overview:
Assist in providing leadership and direction within the Academic and Student Services Department. Responsible for the development, coordination, and administration of staff and assigned areas within the department. Provide oversight, development and mentorship to assigned academic staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in in related field and three years of related experience; or any
equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in counseling, sport management, higher education or related area. A minimum of five years’ experience in an athletic academic services or related experience in education. Three years progressively responsible leadership experience in an intercollegiate athletics administration or other work experience that would demonstrate the necessary background and knowledge.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm with some evenings and weekends.

Serve on Athletic Academic Center for Student-Athletes Leadership team, which includes responsibilities for creating, implementing, and assessing the operations and policies for the entire unit.
o:
Provide Leadership for growth and direction of the Athletic Academic Advisors group, including supervision of the Athletic Academic Advising group.
o:
Direct comprehensive academic support program for a basketball program and at least two Olympic Sports; Provide consistent and frequent communication with the Sr. Associate Athletic Director for Academics and with coaches concerning the progress of assigned student-athletes.
o:
Additional administrative duties include but are not limited to: Bookstore Coordinator, Senior Counselor Committee Liaison; Navigate Contact, Athletic Department Canvas Liaison.
o:
Assist with managing Degree Completion Program for former student-athletes.
o:
Advise assigned sports in academic progress, degree selection, appropriate class selection, academic policies and campus resources.
o:
Work in collaboration with UNT athletic compliance and athletic certification to ensure proper procedures and process.
o:
Monitor and evaluate student-athletes’ progress toward degree and eligibility requirements. Maintain records in compliance with University of North Texas, American Conference and NCAA standards.
o:
Assist with the recruiting activities as needed. Meet with and guide prospective student-athletes through pre-admission process. Evaluate prospective student-athletes’ academic information.
o:
Serve as an athletic academic services liaison to staff and faculty.
o:
Coordinate and oversee the faculty/staff guest coaching activities for the Athletic Academic Department as needed.
o:
Comply with all NCAA, American Conference, University of North Texas, federal and state procedures, rules, regulations and policies.
o:
Other duties as assigned.
