Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
Housing and Residence Life provides safe, inclusive, and secure residential communities where a diverse and innovative team of professionals encourages students to pursue academic excellence, personal growth, civic leadership, and responsibility. Efficient and effective programs and services are provided by competently trained and reliable departmental teams in affordable, clean, comfortable, and sound facilities equipped with current technologies. Our diverse residence hall environments promote learning and personal growth through programs that enable students to acknowledge and appreciate diversity through open dialogue, establish a personal sense of interdependence, and prepare them for responsible service as members of the global community.
Position Summary:
Provide general housekeeping duties in residence halls as assigned by the supervisor. Responsibilities include care and cleaning of dormitories, offices, highway rest areas or welcome centers, and other buildings. Work is guided by a daily schedule for general assignments. Work is performed subject to close review and inspection. Duties may include physically strenuous activities such as moving furniture, operating heavy cleaning equipment, and delivering large quantities of housekeeping supplies. Work is routine and repetitive in nature and may require strenuous physical exertion.
Minimum Qualifications:
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special certification may be required for some of these positions.
