University Development provides leadership and centralized services to all development offices throughout the University, serving as a focal point for annual giving, application development and IT support; campaign management; constituent programs; corporate and foundation relations; donor relations; gift planning; gift services; industry relations; marketing/communications; parents giving; principal gifts; prospect management, research and analytics; regional programs; scholarships and student aid; talent management; university events; and volunteer engagement.

Position Summary:
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC-Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The Prospect Management Analyst reports to the Assistant Director, Prospect Management and serves in a forward-facing, customer service, and strategy partner role, working closely and regularly with assigned development areas at the university.
The primary responsibilities for this position are: 1.) to deliver four critical client-facing portfolio management services: training, analysis, strategy (i.e. portfolio reviews), and client service; 2.) to build effective relationships with internal clients and collaborators; 3.) to leverage business intelligence and analytics capabilities to benefit the university development community; and 4.) to partner with the Business Intelligence department to ensure that its insights are being applied in the field, while at the same time providing it with accurate, timely data from the field.
The Prospect Management Analyst consults with clients from the university development community (commonly referred to as OneCarolina) to frame business questions and provide answers that drive fundraising productivity.
This position is part of University Development’s department of Prospect Management, Research and Analytics (PMRA), which is composed of three separate, collaborative offices: Prospect Management, Pipeline Development, and Principal Gifts Research and Analysis. The department’s twin goals are to validate relevant prospects and facilitate the movement of prospects through the pipeline. PMRA’s core competencies are working with information, building relationships, and delivering effective solutions.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
Demonstrated experience with – or aptitude for – delivering client-facing services, building effective relationships with internal clients and collaborators, and leveraging business intelligence and analytics capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:
Experience in a complex fundraising organization situated within the higher education or academic medicine sector. Familiarity with UNC-Chapel Hill. Familiarity with Blackbaud CRM. Knowledge of prospect management principles, practices, and tools of the trade. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with various constituencies. Team player with proven relationship, consulting, negotiating, and influencing skills. Ability to collaborate with colleagues. Client service, problem-solving, and project management skills. Strategic and analytical thinker. Organized, with attention to detail. Ability to meet deadlines, be self-motivated, work independently, show flexibility, and adapt to shifting priorities. Experience with research, database, spreadsheet, query, statistical, data management, visualization, and survey tools. Curious and creative. Readiness to cultivate department culture of client alignment, colleagueship, innovation, and learning.
