Position Description:
The position will serve as Director of Communications for ELPA21 a prominent national assessment program housed at CRESST (the National Center for Research, Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing) at UCLA. As a Director of Communications, the position will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing communication strategies to enhance the visibility and impact of ELPA21’s innovative English language proficiency assessment system.
Reporting to the ELPA21 Executive Director, the incumbent will align ELPA21’s outreach, communications, and brand presence to the ELPA21 at CRESST’s mission, and strategic plan, and will oversee a wide array of communication activities. Responsibilities will include collaborating with ELPA21 leadership to plan and maintain long-term comprehensive outreach plans, strategically executing communications and outreach to highlight ELPA21’s missions, values, advancements in English language proficiency assessments, and research findings.
The role includes collaborating with internal teams, supervising communications staff, and contributing to income growth by identifying potential funding streams and supporting proposal development. With a keen eye on the competitive landscape, the incumbent will adjust communication strategies to ensure ELPA21 remains responsive, competitive, and aligned with strategic goals. They will manage a high-powered and growing team consisting of an Outreach Coordinator, State Relations Coordinator, Copywriter, Graphic Designer, and Project Coordinator, as well as undergraduate student workers, vendors, and contractors.

The budgeted hiring salary/target range for this position is the posted minimum to $9,584 monthly, with salary placement based on skills, knowledge, and experience.
This position is fully remote and requires occasional travel as needed.
