The Social Media Manager position requires a high degree of collaboration with various internal groups. Innovative thinking and problem solving along with an open and collaborative communication style are critical. The primary focus for the Social Media Manager will be increasing engagement of undergraduate and graduate student populations while using social media and other digital tools. This person will create and manage a digital content plan and editorial calendar using various social media channels associated with UMKC Admissions department. These will also include Customer Relationship Management (CRM) communications and Admissions related website updates all viewed through a recruitment lens and student audiences. The digital recruitment specialist will work closely with the Strategic Marketing and Communications (MCOM), academic units, and campus partners to ensure a cohesive brand and message is consistently delivered.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support the planning and execution of communications using Admissions CRM, social media vendors, and texting tools
• Work alongside academic units, campus partners, and students to develop content and posting recommendations for social media channels highlighting students, student activities, and events
• Coordinate with academic units and campus partners to identify ideal student influencers and recruit students to participate in Admissions’ social media posts with the goal of attracting undergraduate and graduate students to UMKC and engaging with parents and supporters.
• Measure and monitor Admissions’ engagement rates/effectiveness across social media platforms
• Assist with updates to Admissions’ website
• Supervision of Student Social Media Influencers and Student Interns
• Provide the Office of Admissions with video and photography support for social media and Admissions events
• Stay current on best practices in digital marketing including, social media marketing, digital and video advertising, email marketing, mobile promotion, and emerging marketing technologies
• Other duties as assigned

A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

$50,367 – $55,000 commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
