Summary
We are looking for a personable, self-motivated and organized CRC – Assistant to help with recruitment activities for a large, federally-funded, multi-year clinical trial addressing opioid misuse among youth and young adults. Key job responsibilities include approaching and collecting data from Emergency Department patients using a hybrid recruitment approach, administering risk assessments (suicide, child abuse) following study protocols, and conducting chart review. This is a great opportunity for candidates interested in gaining hands-on clinical research experience before applying to graduate school.
This is the entry level position on the Michigan Medicine CRC Career Ladder. This position provides administrative and coordination support for multiple projects in the conduct of clinical research projects. This position may assist with study coordination but will not be assigned clinical trials independently. This position may provide coordination for clinical research projects such as registries, retrospective data reviews, studies in long-term follow-up, and other non-interventional studies.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Essential**: 20%
Clinical Coordinator Responsibilities (ex. – Assist with screening participants for study eligibility & enroll with accuracy in various databases; May complete simple study reimbursement with partners; May provide lab results, not interpretation, to participants)
20% Data Coordinator Responsibilities (ex. – May assist research coordinator in conduct of SIV; attends SIV; Enters data to complete forms (CRFs) on paper or in EDC)
20% Regulatory Coordinator Responsibilities (ex. – May work with regulatory support to collect essential documents and maintain regulatory binder (CVs, MD licenses, lab certifications, IRB rosters, lab norms, etc.)
30% Administrative Responsibilities (ex. – Provide other administrative support for study activity including scanning, filing, etc. of research documents; managing organization of research kits.)
10% Training (ex. – May receiving task specific training to perform additional research duties as assigned.)

High school diploma or GED is necessary.
This position requires flexibility and availability to work a varying schedule with some morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts. We are looking for someone who: is personable, empathetic, and able to communicate effectively; has excellent organizational skills and can prioritize competing tasks to meet deadlines; and is able to work independently for extended periods of time while also being a team player and maintaining effective communication with team leads, the study coordinator and principal investigators. Must be comfortable working in the Emergency Department (following established protocols to facilitate social distancing and reduce COVID-19 transmission risks), interacting with diverse populations and discussing sensitive topics (opioid use, suicidal ideation) with study participants.

Our team currently works four 10-hour shifts each week, which are currently between the hours of 10:30am – 8:30pm. Days worked each week are flexible (based on the candidate’s availability and study needs) and may include working up to two weekend shifts/month.
