UH Hilo, College of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resource Management (CAFNRM), position number 84226, tenure track, full-time,
general funds, nine-month to begin approximately August 2023, pending position clearance and availability of funding.
Duties: Teach a minimum of 9 courses per semester or equivalent and advise students as required. Assist in establishing
and managing the Aeronautical Sciences B.S. degree program. Teach lower- and upper-division courses in unmanned aerial systems (UAS), UAS
robotics, UAS mission plans and simulation, UAS flight, remote sensing and aerial photographic interpretation, GIS and geospatial data
analysis. Participate in ongoing course and curriculum development activities in the program and college as a whole. Establish a solid
applied research program related to Aeronautical Information Technology. Participate and engage in CAFNRM/University/community
activities.
Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree in a Natural Resource Management, Engineering, Geography,
or closely related field with emphasis on Aerial Information Technology from an accredited college or university by the time of appointment.
FAA Remote Pilot Certification with an UAS Rating. Experience in a university aerial information technology program or industry/military UAS
flight operations. Evidence of high-quality teaching at the college level. Demonstrated evidence of scholarly activity and publication.
Desirable Qualifications: Proven ability to develop university level curriculum in UAS and aerial information
technology. Experience with agricultural, forestry, and coastal environmental applications of UAS. Experience teaching foundational courses
in UAS and aerial information technology. Demonstrated potential for developing an innovative curriculum that integrates knowledge of
existing flight systems with emerging UAS technologies. Significant record of scholarly publications utilizing UAS and (or) sensor
technology. Record of extramural grant or other fund-raising activity. Experience with commercial or governmental UAS operations.
Pay Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
