GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

UNIT DESCRIPTION:
UOG is located in the picturesque village of Mangilao, Guam. The ocean view campus is located in the center of the island with population of 10,000. The department offers a B.A. in 2-D Visual Art with concentrations in Ceramics, Painting, Printmaking, and Sculpture. In addition, Graphic Design, Digital Imaging and Photography courses are also offered under the UOG fine arts program. The candidate selected for this position will join a cadre of highly committed, active artists and scholars who enjoy working together within the context of teaching and service commitments.
CHARACTER OF DUTIES:
The Department of Fine Art seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-eligible faculty member beginning August 2024. Salary and benefits competitive and commensurate with experience. Teaching duties to include all levels of Ceramics, Sculpture, 3D Design and Introduction to Art, as well as rotation of Fine Arts Major foundation studio classes. Regional sensibilities in Asia Pacific region is preferred but not required. Additional responsibilities include service commitments to Ceramics, Sculpture and 3D studio, department, university, and community. You will be expected to teach and contribute to core Fine Arts courses (i.e., Survey of the Arts, Theories of the Arts, and Survival in the Arts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum: MFA, PhD, or equivalent terminal degree in Studio Art, preferably Ceramics or Sculpture from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or foreign equivalent. Teaching experience beyond graduate assistant teaching, preferably two (2) years or more. Ongoing studio practice and peer-reviewed achievements/exhibition record. Experience managing a ceramic and sculpture facility. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively. Service and community engagement are highly desirable. Leadership experience or potential is highly desirable. Evidence of equitable considerations, awareness, and practice with regard to curricula development, inclusive practices in educating diverse student bodies or working with a diverse faculty and staff, along with evidence of working collectively to cultivate a culture that supports success and enables all members of a college community to thrive. Must be willing to teach online.
Preferred: UOG prefers experience working and teaching in online learning programs.

Police and Court Clearance: Pursuant to Public Law No. 28-24 and Executive Order 2005-34, applicants selected for a position are required to provide original police and court (Superior Court of Guam) clearances of no more than three (3) months old prior to commencement of employment. Off-island applicants must obtain clearances from their place of residence. Applicants are responsible for fees associated with obtaining the clearances.

A report of such examination must be conducted by a licensed physician within a state or territory of the United States and must be submitted upon request.
Federal law requires presentation of eligibility to work in the United States within seventy-two (72) hours of reporting for employment. Specifically, 8 USC 1324A requires the employer to verify the identity and eligibility to work in the United States of all newly hired employees.
