Clinical Coder II
Job Description:
Works assigned billing WQs and processes corrections as appropriate.
Reviews edits to determine causes and patterns. As appropriate, educates providers regarding appropriate and compliant billing practices.
Reviews electronic record documentation; codes health information for billing purposes using working knowledge of anatomy,
physiology, disease process, and medical terminology in accordance with departmental procedures and university compliance
policies.
Provides in clinic assistance, such as, posting charges. Provides coding expertise.
Reviews all documents to ensure
adherence to Compliance Office standards; if not in compliance, incumbent takes appropriate action to rectify before proceeding to charge
entry process.
Selects correct diagnostic and procedure codes based upon interpretation of documentation and correct coding
principles; applies modifiers as appropriate.
Expected Salary:
$22.00 – $26.00 per hour
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and three years of professional medical coding experience. Appropriate college coursework or
vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC)/
American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS-P) required or COBGC Certified Obstetrics Gynecology
Coder certification.
