Position Title: Director of MBA Recruitment and Retention
Position Overview:
Develop and implement recruitment and admissions strategy across entire university or for a particular school, program, or student segment. Define and track enrollment targets and suggest approaches to achieving them. Direct initiatives with other college staff to establish standards and effective processes for recruitment, retention. Resolve issues with internal and external stakeholders. Collaborate with other functions (registration, School administration, and marketing, alumni relations) to develop integrated approach to attracting and retaining students.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
Implement and monitor ongoing student admission, enrollment, and retention strategies with business graduate program directors, department chairpersons, internal and external stakeholders to fulfill the goals of business graduate programs in alignment with the overall vision, mission, and transformative learning culture of the College and University. There are the following major aspects of this process: Relationship Building: Advocate for business graduate programs in the local, national, and international community by engaging with companies and partners. Actively maintain relationship with industry professionals to acquire current knowledge of industry trends and employment needs. Recruitment Execution: Support the leadership to apply data analytics to identify prospective student profiles for online, fact-to-face, and hybrid deliveries in business graduate program. Implement outreach and recruitment strategies that generate high yields of marketing campaigns for different programs. Apply industry best practices to collect data from environments and prospective students to predict future credential demands, critical learning elements, and employment shifts that impact enrollments. Support strategic partnership and relationship between the university and the local business community in order to generate high-quality applicant pools for programs. Initiate and execute student recruiting events such as group information sessions, social media, webinars, campus visits, alumni events, and one-on-one recruitment sessions. Manage and update ongoing prospective students and applicants to ensure a high yield of quality students. Follow up prospective students and applicants to answer their questions, solve their issues, and assist with their application process. Supervise applicants to ensure effectiveness, accuracy, and efficiency for admission and enrollment. Support applicant reviews, interviews, and evaluations. Refer applicants to decision makers when they have special needs, requests, or questions. Promotion and Marketing Materials. Provide input to and work with marketing coordinator, and program directors for the design and preparation of marketing and promotion materials in digital, physical, and printed formats via different delivery channels such as social media, email blasts, service portals, websites, postal mails, press releases, public venues, and company-specific venues. Coordination with Academic and Other Units: Coordinate with the dean and staff of the Graduate College for program development, promotional activities, marketing activities, recruitment, and retention efforts. Support the program directors, and department chairs to collaborate with different academic units on campus or off campus, to develop joint graduate degree programs, undergrad + grad dual degrees, and/or other certification options. Work with the Global Office to recruit international students via overseas agents and international academic partners. Program Promotion and Representation: Promote and represent business graduate programs at public relation events, internal and external promotional opportunities, business and community meetings, and press and publicity functions at the local, state, national, and international level. Manage relationship with alumni to mentor current students and to obtain referrals for prospective students. Student Management. Plan, deliver, and/or support student events including orientations, boot camps, graduate banquets, social activities, and other learning enhancement activities. Support and/or implement integrative approaches with employers and industrial partners for study trips, company visits, interviews, internship, externship, and collaborative projects. Program Assessment and AACSB Accreditation. Assist the associate dean, assessment coordinator, and program directors to execute assessment activities for AACSB accreditation purposes including student incoming surveys, student exit surveys, student satisfaction surveys, employer surveys, alumni surveys, faculty surveys, focus group meetings, program advisory board meetings, and others. Budget and Operation. Monitor and report expenses for marketing, promotion, and student events to ensure efficiency and alignment with proposed budgets. Other relevant activities as directed by dean, associate dean, program directors, and department chairs.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
Requires a bachelor’s degree, 7+ years of experience with leading planning, including program development and innovation, program prioritization, and assessment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Appropriate profession accomplishments and credentials.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred:
Master’s degree. Experience in advising graduate students and developing joint degree, 3+2, and 4+1 programs.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication, public relation skills, abilities to work effectively with diverse constituents both on and off campus; proven skills to work with students, faculty, employers, alumni; proficiency in using Excel for data analysis and budgeting, using online survey software for survey design and execution, using PowerPoint for effective presentation, develop written reports for different audiences, excellent computing skills in productivity software such as emails, calendars, and social media.
