Job Summary
Involved in ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and / or provision of patient care delivery in assigned nursing unit(s) or area(s). Promotes environment for a shared voice in nursing practice and exchange of ideas to continually improve nursing and patient care outcomes. Accountable for the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of patient care. Consults and collaborates with other health care professionals to coordinate the management of patient care. Serves as a resource to staff, physicians, students and others. Incumbants who are credentialed as Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner will carry a caseload of patients at approximately 20% of the fulltime provider standard.
Manages nursing and administrative operations in specific patient care areas. Implements changes to patient workflows and operational processes. Maintains 24 hour line management responsibility for the administration of fiscal, material and human resources. Direct reports are typically supervisor level.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% – 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
UCSF Langley Porter Psychiatric Hospital and Clinics (LPPHC) consists of an adult inpatient unit, an adult partial hospitalization program, an adult intensive outpatient program, and adult/child outpatient services accounting for nearly 48,000 visits per year.
Langley Porter Psychiatric Hospital & Clinics (LPPH&C) encompasses a 22-bed acute adult inpatient unit, a Consultation and Brief Intervention Service, a Partial Hospitalization Program, and an array of specialty clinics, including a Depression Specialty Clinic, a Hormone and Mood Assessment Clinic, an Early Psychosis Clinic, an Anxiety Disorders Clinic, an Eating Disorders Clinic, and a Psychopharmacology Assessment Clinic. LPPH&C Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Services is predominantly outpatient-based, offering general assessment of child and adolescent behavioral disorders, with a special focus on autism, ADHD, pervasive developmental disorder, Tourette’s syndrome, and psychopharmacologic assessment.
Additional clinical services include a Women’s Care Mental Health Clinic, providing gender-specific outpatient mental health services to women, and a Psychological Assessment Clinic, a centralized consultation service providing neuropsychological and psychological consultations and evaluations to patients referred from outpatient partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. LPPH&C admits approximately 500 patients annually, and records more than 26,000 outpatient services visits each year.
