Job Summary
The Development Technician Supervisor (DTS) position entails a technical component of fabrication/assembly, an administrative component, and a supervisory component. The DTS reports directly to the Director for guidance and support.
Technically, the employee will work in the Orthotic and Prosthetic Centers as a development technician. The DTS will be responsible for technical services for O&P clinics and providing unique technical insight to assist clinicians in complex problem solving.
Administratively, the DTS will be responsible for purchasing of technical-related materials and supplies, training and schedules of the O&P dev techs and ensuring proper workflow of all technical aspects of the Orthotic and Prosthetic centers at UCSF. The DTS will also be directly responsible for the supervision or direct repair and maintenance of equipment in the O&P labs.
Supervision will include the management of the dev techs in the O&P department and management of the technical-related materials and supply vendors. The candidate will also be the lead recruitment officer for new dev techs, which includes independently reviewing resumes, performing phone and in-person interviews, and contributing to the hiring decisions.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% – 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is responsible for the department’s academic, teaching, patient care professional services and research activities under the UCSF School of Medicine (SOM). The department has over 250 academic and staff personnel at multiple sites (University of California – UC, Mt. Zion, Mission Bay – MB, San Francisco General Hospital – SFGH, and San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center – SFVAMC). The Orthotic and Prosthetic Department provides joint patents care with numerous services across the UCSF health care system.
