Summary:
Under the direction of the Summer Program Director at Geffen Academy at UCLA, the Summer Current Events Educator will create one course of study: Current Events & Community Activism for Geffen Academy’s Summer Program students. The course will be 90 minutes in length and designed for students entering grades 6 – 12 over a three week period. The course will be taught in-person on Geffen Academy’s campus. Additionally, the educator will work in tandem with the Summer Athletics, Strength and Conditioning Educator to add a Wellness component to the Fifth Grade Foundations Program.
Job Duties:
In this three-week summer course, students will explore current events and topics of interest affecting young people today. In this course, students will learn more deeply about current events and topics while exploring equitable solutions. Students can expect to engage in research individually and with partners. They will critique current solutions and propose solutions of their own.
