Position Description:
Under the supervision of the FTVA Head of Collection Services and working closely with the Motion Picture and Television Curators, the Circulation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the circulation of the Archive’s motion picture, television and other media-related collections within those facilities. The Circulation Coordinator is responsible for logistical and circulation coordination; support for access and loans; metadata updates; and special projects. The Circulation Coordinator assists with other Collection Services or Archive-wide programs and projects, as required.
The UCLA Film & Television Archive’s Collection Services unit accessions, identifies, inventories, inspects, repairs, preps, triages, stores, protects, and traffics the movement of all film, video, and archival media within the Archive. In doing so, it supports the Archive’s mission to develop, organize, preserve, and ensure the safekeeping of its collection while providing access to scholars and the community. The unit’s staff work in close coordination with the other Archive’s units to plan and facilitate projects, serving in response to Archive needs and emerging technology, research, and developments in the archival community.
UCLA Film & Television Archive, a department of the UCLA Library, collects moving images as works of art and as social and historical documents, restores and preserves moving images for current and future generations, curates collections, programs and events using moving images to advance knowledge, and provides access to moving images for purposes of research, education and enjoyment. The Archive’s collections consist of over 500,000 holdings dating from the dawn of cinema to the present and cover a broad-spectrum of content from major Hollywood studios films and network television shows to independent productions and news footage.
