The mission of Audit & Management Advisory Services (AMAS) is to assess and monitor the university community in the discharge of its oversight, management, and operating responsibilities in relation to governance processes, the systems of internal control, and compliance with laws, regulations and University policies including those related to ethical conduct by providing relevant, timely, independent, and objective assurance, advisory and investigative services using a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate risk and improve effectiveness. AMAS is responsible for performing financial, operational, compliance, and information systems audits and investigations of the main Davis campus, and the Health System, which includes the UC Davis (UCD) Medical Center, School of Medicine and School of Nursing.
Job Summary
Leads campus-focused projects and personnel. Provides audit, advisory, and investigatory services.
Manages a specialized campus audit team. Oversees and manages projects based on AMAS’ annual audit plan and special management requests by academic, research, and administrative units. Develops and maintains personal and team skillsets in areas related to campus administration and operations. Conducts engagements in the areas of highest risk or complexity.

* AMAS is a remote office, and most staff work from home or another secure location. A University-owned laptop and monitors are provided. Staff may work outside the state of California as long as they are able to perform their duties on Pacific Standard Time (PST). Shared workstations in Davis and Sacramento are available to staff who prefer to work in-office regularly or on occasion.
* AMAS staff work flexible schedules. Staff are generally expected to be accessible during the core business hours of 9am to 4pm PST, Monday through Friday. Modified schedules are approved for fully-performing staff who wish to start the day earlier, end the day later, and/or take additional or extended breaks mid-day. Staff have the option to work 9/80 flex schedules.
* Staff in AMAS comply with the Internal Audit Code of Ethics.
Staff must be able to travel to Sacramento, Davis, or other locations on occasion to perform engagements or attend training sessions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Professional certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or similar; OR relevant advanced degree (MBA, JD, EdD, or comparable).
* B.S. or B.A. degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* At least four years’ audit or consulting experience, with increasing responsibility.
* Experience taking a lead role in risk assessment and audit or advisory work program development.
* Experience communicating to executive leadership through written reports and verbal presentations.
* General knowledge of the organization and operations of a college or university or other complex organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience supervising projects.
* Experience interpreting and applying UC Davis policies and procedures.
* Knowledge of information or financial systems in use at UC Davis.
* Demonstrated ability to succeed in a remote work environment.
