Departmental Overview UC Berkeley was rated the number one public university in the US for 2022, with the Department of Chemistry rated the best program for chemistry in the world in 2019. Since 1946, UC Berkeley has won 8 Nobel Prizes for Chemistry, our most recent was awarded in 2020. The Department of Chemistry is seeking a Faculty Support Supervisor to support our top-rated department. The main function of this job is to guide and support Faculty Support Administrators (FSAs) in the department. This position will supervise new and inexperienced FSAs, and work closely with the Department Manager to develop training plans, develop/amend department policies, and provide staff with regular updates to processes. This position will also support the Department Chair and Manager in administrative duties, such as reimbursements, travel arrangements, meeting scheduling, hiring, and other logistical support. The incumbent will manage and supervise all facets of the administrative services, and general business operations of the Department Chair’s research group as well as aspects of functions for the Chair in the Chemistry department. Responsible for long range planning, coordinating, organizing and overseeing budgets, contract and grants administration, purchasing and expenditure control, and serves as a point of contact for research and administrative functions. The incumbent will solve problems that require analysis of unique issues/problems without precedent and/or structure, manage research funds that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes and resources. Salary & Benefits This is a 100% full-time (40 hrs a week) exempt career position, which is paid monthly and eligible for UC Benefits. For information on the comprehensive benefits package offered by the University, please visit the University of California’s Compensation & Benefits website. Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $85,800.00 – $105,000.00. How to Apply
