Summary of Job Duties:The Graduate Assistant for Cultural Identity Communities (CICs) is an integral member of the Multicultural Center staff and reports directly to the Coordinator for Cultural Identity Communities. The Graduate Assistant develops and facilitates programs and services designed to affirm cultural identity, develop intersectional leadership, and promote social equity. These initiatives typically include facilitation of programs geared towards strengthening the sense of belonging for students from traditionally underrepresented populations. Graduate assistants are invited to create and build programming according to their own lived/ learned experiences and vision.Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher
education plus enrollment in a graduate degree-seeking program at the University of Arkansas
Demonstrated interest in multicultural student engagement and social justice through experience and/or undergraduate work or engagement
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience coordinating and facilitating cross-cultural and identity based programs
Experience supporting college students
Desire to utilize research, best practices,andassessment to create focused programs & events
Experience creating and maintaining social media and communication marketing campaigns
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities(KSAs):
Knowledge of multicultural theories of student development, and multicultural experiences and priorities in institutions of higher education
Excellent verbalandwritten communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as a member of a team
Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, and to reason, synthesize, and generalize information
