Department:ICE | LPSL CPATH Molecular Biology

Summary of Job Duties:The Medical Laboratory Scientist in the Molecular Biology Laboratory will be responsible for performing a variety of Molecular based testing in PCR or FISH. This will include, but not limited to, processing and evaluating patient specimens, and performing, reviewing and documenting test results according to written procedures. In addition, the technologist will perform daily, weekly and monthly QC and preventative maintenance in their assigned areas for further review by the supervisor or Medical Director. This position requires one to maintain safe work practices, follow all regulatory requirements and procedures and engage supervisor, manager, and director as appropriate.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Sciences OR an approved ASCP discipline (30 semester hours in biology and chemistry, which may be obtained within, or in addition to, the Bachelor’s).
ASCP or another accrediting agency certified or eligible (Certification must be obtained within one year of employment).
