THE FOUNDATION
The UConn Foundation, an independent nonprofit organization, is integral to the success of the University of Connecticut. Its staff of approximately 170 solicits, administers, and invests private funds for the sole benefit of the University and drives alumni engagement. In the most recent fiscal year, the Foundation raised approximately $160 million, including a $40 million gift to support the School of Nursing. The Foundation partners with the ambitious leadership of the University of Connecticut to develop the relationships and resources required to support UConn’s current needs and future aspirations. The UConn Foundation is governed by a dynamic volunteer board of elected directors who are deeply committed to the University.

Founded in 1881 and located in the heart of New England between New York and Boston, the University of Connecticut has grown into one of the top public research universities in the nation, and an unprecedented commitment from the state of Connecticut ensures UConn attracts internationally renowned faculty and the world’s brightest students.
The University enrolls more than 32,000 students across 14 schools and colleges, with students hailing from 49 states and 114 countries. Its picturesque main campus is located in Storrs, complemented by four vibrant regional campuses, and schools of Law and Social Work located in the state capital of Hartford. Connecticut residents comprise 74 percent of UConn’s more than 24,000 undergraduate students and 64 percent of the graduate students on UConn’s campuses. With a student-to-teacher ratio of 16:1, undergraduate students have a dynamic experience. Undergraduate freshmen applications now exceed 40,000, which has nearly doubled over the last decade. A student-centered institution, the richly diverse and inclusive campus community is enhanced by more than 700 clubs and organizations, six cultural centers, five on-campus theaters, three museums, and one of the highest percentages of students living on campus of any public university.
Highlights:
UConn has medical and dental schools and owns its own hospital and outpatient practice plan. UConn Health has a budget of more than $1.4 billion and is based in Farmington. Every year, the schools of Medicine and Dental Medicine train 650 students and over 800 residents, and the medical and dental schools execute approximately $170 million in sponsored research and are hitting record highs year after year. UConn Health’s clinical enterprise handles over 1.3 million patient visits and over 70,000 dental visits annually.
UConn has a long history in clean energy research, innovation, demonstration, and deployment. Together with our President’s leadership, UConn has set a target to be carbon neutral by 2030 and carbon zero by 2040. UConn has over 170 faculty who are experts in climate change, clean energy, and clean water, and has been selected by the Department of Energy to lead a national effort in clean energy technology independent evaluation.
Position Summary
Reporting to the UConn Foundation Board of Directors, the President/CEO of UConn Foundation will provide vision and direction to a full-scale advancement program across fundraising, principal and transformational gifts, annual giving, the current University-wide campaign, alumni affairs, marketing and communications, and donor relations. The President/CEO of UConn Foundation will lead the planning, launch, and implementation of all aspects of the University’s fundraising strategy and be responsible for further building an organization that is well aligned with that strategy, driving quality execution to meet best-in-class expectations. Key to this leader’s success will be the ability to partner effectively with the University President, the Foundation Board of Directors and the University Board of Trustees, and the academic, athletic, and administrative leaders within in the University.
