FFPSA Training Coordinator – CSW, Social Work Office of Research and Public Service
Exempt position: Salary range $63,000 – $68,000
The University of Tennessee-Knoxville, College of Social Work’s Social Work Office of Research and Public Service (SWORPS) through its Division of Field-Based Services is currently accepting applications for a Learning Specialist to support two Department of Children’s Services (DCS) Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) grants.
This position will devote 50% FTE to provide support to the Lead Evaluation and Research Specialist in the design, development, and delivery of training to direct service professionals. This person will also support the Implementation Research Scientist in collaborative efforts with the Department’s Training Team to integrate an overview of Evaluation Best Practices (EBPs) in CPS Academy and the development of resources that strengthen the referral process.
This position will devote 50% FTE to provide support to the Regional Prevention Specialists in the design, development, and delivery of training/coaching to DCS direct service professionals and their supervisors and other DCS professionals and stakeholders in the region.
The Learning Specialist will have child welfare and/or prevention experience and will have training and/or instructional design experience.
The job duties include, but are not limited to:
Training
· Design, develop, and deliver training to direct service professionals, supervisors, and stakeholders
· Conduct training needs assessment
· Collect, analyze, and report on training evaluation information and use evaluation data to refine training curricula
· Design learning to ensure that transfer of learning occurs, including formative assessments
Coaching
· Build relationships, rapport, and trust
· Deliver feedback and encouragement
· Demonstrate communication best practices, including showing empathy and modeling active listening
· Utilize and communicate Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed Care best practices
· Utilize and communicate Problem-Solving and Solution-Focused methods, Goal setting, and Action Planning
· Utilize and teach Reflective Practice for self and organizational improvement
· Apply various coaching models to gain desired outcomes
· Utilize Model learning, including “think-alouds”, to transfer skills to practitioners
Technical Assistance
· Assist with help desk functions
· Assess and support changes to the referral processes
· Adhere to data privacy requirements and standards
Consulting
· Review and gain specific knowledge related to FFPSA and these two grants to meet contract and deliverables requirements
· Collect data, conduct need’s analysis, analyze data, and make recommendations on training products to customize support for the direct services professionals and stakeholders
· Maintain detailed, audit-supporting project documentation for auditing purposes for training and coaching activities
· Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required: Web-based and on-line training development and delivery skills. Group facilitation skills. Knowledge of adult education techniques. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to learn and support multiple project requirements. Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations. Experience in training/coaching. Strong technical skills and demonstrated ability with web-based communication. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. In-Field coaching experience. Skilled user of PowerPoint, MS Office, Office 365, Zoom.
Preferred: Knowledge of child welfare systems, knowledge of interpersonal violence or domestic violence.
Qualifications
Education
Required: Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, education, psychology, communication, or organizational behavior, or related field.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in a related field
Experience
Required: 4 years of experience in training/coaching. Strong technical skills and demonstrated ability with web-based communication. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred: 2 years’ experience with online or web-based training development and at least 2 years’ experience in social service delivery
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday with occasional weekends, evenings, and overnight travel.
