This position serves as the day-to-day administrator to direct, plan, coordinate, and supervise operations and activities; develop and implement policies and procedures, monitor budgetary expenses, organize tasks and sets priorities. The University of North Georgia Educational Talent Search Program is funded to provide college preparatory activities and supportive services for prospective first-generation and income-eligible 6-12 grade students within Gainesville City School District.
This position is funded by the U.S. Department of Education; continuation of the position is based on renewal of annual funding.
Responsibilities
Duties – 25%
Oversee the implementation of all program services including pre-college advisement, academic skill development, tutoring, academic persistence support, collegiate applications, and financial literacy education.
Duties 2 – 25%
Provide direction for ETS staff in program development, which reflects grant objectives and the needs of the students; Design and implement job descriptions and professional development plans and holds staff accountable to these expectations.
Duties 3 – 15%
Develop the professional growth of support staff using methods not limited to staff and individual meetings, in-service training activities, participation with TRIO Conferences, workshops, and job-related seminars.
Duties 4 – 10%
Develop and administer annual project budget in collaboration with supervisor and maintain financial records in compliance with Edgar. Prepare and submit all reports required by the U.S. Department of Education and supervising units. Assure the maintenance and security of participant records.
Duties 5 – 10%
Occasional evening, weekends, and overnight work to supervise, monitor, and assist with program activities.
Duties 6 – 10%
Develop program assessment tools to monitor program outcomes and provide guidance to ETS staff in adapting to students’ needs.
Duties 7 – 5%
Work alongside the Director of Pre-College Access Programs and similar first-generation University programs to create a culture of access and success; Actively develop relationships with target schools’ personnel, businesses, and community agencies for partnerships in student’s academic achievements and for advancement of the program.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Master’s degree in counseling, education, psychology, student personnel, public administration, business, or social work.
Required Experience
Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in staff supervision, budget management, program development and evaluation, reporting, and compliance with federal regulations.
Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience with federal TRIO programs, academic support programs, or similar programs for disadvantaged low-income 6th -12th grade students who are potential first-generation college students.
Experience assisting low-income and potential first-generation college students in completing the admissions and financial aid process to enroll in college is required.
